Many of the most common inland UK birds are shown below. Most birds eat grubs and insects and feed them to their young. Male birds are usually brighter coloured than the females.

Magpie - Prefers to eat meat such as small animals, birds, eggs, insects, snails, worms. Also eats fruit, grain and acorns. |
Jay - Prefers to eat meat such as small animals, birds, eggs, insects, snails, worms. Also eats fruit and acorns. |
Collared Dove - Eats mostly seeds. | Wood Pigeon - Sometimes named Ring Dove. Eats seeds, young green shouts, berries, catapillas and slugs. Makes Cooing sound. | ||
Coal Tit - Eats seeds and peanuts, prefers to take the whole peanut away and hides it for later. |
